Our Mission
Our mission at Young Explorers Pre-School is to provide quality education to children aged between 3 and 4 years. Our aim is to provide a secure and stimulating environment, where children are motivated to become independent learners and thinkers with high expectations. We recognise that your child is unique and we do our best to ensure that your child makes the most of his or her abilities.
We focus on the whole child, providing a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment that our children and families feel comfortable to learn in.
Our Pre-School
Young Explorers Pre-school opened in February 2014. The pre-school is located within Saxilby Primary School and is Ofsted Registered.
Inside the pre-school we have a spacious room which is linked to the current reception classes. It is equipped with an array of creative and stimulating age appropriate toys and activities. Our Pre-School is very fortunate to be linked to the reception classes, giving the children opportunities throughout the day to interact with each other but to also have quality time as a separate unit.
The Learning Garden
We are very proud of our fully-enclosed outside learning garden. Here, the children have the opportunity to explore and express themselves in a safe and stimulating environment. Our outdoor space has plenty to offer such as a woodland garden, children can ride bikes, be imaginative in ‘Percy’s Hut’, sand and water, a stage for drama/role play, music, construction and much more. You can just imagine what fun your child will have!
The children also have opportunities to grow vegetables in their very own vegetable garden, giving them the opportunity to plant, grow and eat their produce!
Our Staff
Our professionally trained and qualified staff help to guide children in their learning. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and believe that children get the most out of learning when they initiate their own learning based on their interests and their environment.
The Community
We also believe that parents and carers have the most influence in a child’s life, viewing them as our partners in the education of their children. At Young Explorers Pre-School, we believe in the importance of community. Our surrounding community is a wonderful resource for learning and as well as getting out to explore, we invite local people in to share skills and experiences with the children.
Lunch times
Children attending afternoon sessions can bring a healthy packed lunch, or can choose to access a hot meal from our catering service ‘Chartwells’. Hot meals are ordered and purchased online via the Chartwells ‘Meal Selector’ website and currently cost £2.30, unless a child qualifies for Free School Meals. Eating together provides learning opportunities such as social development and also helps children prepare for the lunch time experience at primary school.
